The AUSKUD team of Jamie Dunross and Rachael Cox formed early in 2011, to make a bid to represent Australia at the Paralympic Games 2012 in the SKUD class. Rachael’s experience in the SKUD class and determination to continue to represent her country, lead to approaching Jamie Dunross oam fresh from his world record breaking circumnavigation around Australia with a proposition to form a SKUD team based at Royal Perth Yacht Club.

After an intensive preparation and training period, this June Jamie and Rachael won Bronze at the Sail for Gold event in Weymouth UK. This fantastic result at their first international event together shows the team’s potential to go onto greater success at future international events. Both team members know what it takes to win medals at the Paralympic level, and are dedicated to strive for excellence at the Paralympic Games 2012. Visit the ABOUT US page for more background information on the team and their achievements.

The SKUD 18 has been designed as a high performance boat, and is considered an exciting challenge for sailors regardless of their mobility.  With the growth in the community of disabled sailing worldwide, along with groups such as Sailability and others delivering sailing as a fun and competitive activity, AUSKUD are setting an ideology, which many people both AB (able bodied) and disabled, are aspiring to.

The AUSKUD team are located at their mutual club of Royal Perth Yacht Club, Western Australia. The Club has a long and very successful history of partnerships with world class athletes and campaigns, including the Americas Cup winning “Australia II” and the Rechici/Parkinson Gold medal in the women’s 470 class at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, plus many, many more. Royal Perth Yacht Club has committed the support of the Club and its members and gives the team an immense backing as the team pushes towards representing Australia at the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Competing on the world stage at regattas both in Australia and abroad, AUSKUD have posted strong results in this Paralympic cycle, and are now intently focussed on the Games in London 2012.  AUSKUD as a team are working towards qualifying themselves for Australian selection, and is the team’s next goal at regattas in 2011 and early 2012. Please visit the NEWS page for all the details on past events and upcoming regattas.
